One day workshop
This workshop provides a one-day introduction for building personal skills in mindfulness and self-compassion. Growing evidence now supports the importance of both mindfulness and self-compassion as an effective approach to many mental and physical health issues, as well as generally improving performance, relationships, and well-being.
Mindfulness involves paying attention to what’s happening in the present moment in the mind, body and external environment, and is carried out with an attitude of curiosity and kindness. Developing mindfulness helps us to remain quiet, calm and still in the inner and outer world. Compassion allows us to respond to stresses and difficulties with kindness and care, rather than criticism and blame. Developing compassion provides increased emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to accept (and learn from) our shortcomings, motivate ourselves with kindness, forgive ourselves and others when needed, and relate more deeply and whole-heartedly to others.
By attending this one-day workshop, participants will learn how to:
No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required to attend this one-day introductory workshop. The training activities include brief presentations, meditation, experiential exercises, and group discussion. Participants will directly experience self-compassion and learn practices that evoke self-compassion in daily life.
