WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

One day workshop

This one-day workshop is ideal for all health professionals with a role in caring for patients with conditions such as diabetes, cardiac disease, asthma / COPD and chronic pain.  Delegates will  develop skills in helping patients learn to cope with their health condition and to maximise their quality of life.

By addressing emotional aspects of physical health, 10 Minute CBT helps to reduce emotional distress, low mood and anxiety, reduce repeated attendances, reduce hospital admissions, improve engagement with health services and improve relationships with patients.

  • Discover effective methods of encouraging positive behaviour change, such as healthy eating, increased activity and adherence to treatments such as medication
  • Empower patients to understand and take responsibility for their own health, and develop increased independence and enjoyment of life
  • Improve relationships and partnership with patients, encourage adherence to treatments such as medication
  • Empower patients to understand and take responsibility for their own health, and develop increased independence and enjoyment of life despite the presence of chronic disease
  • Learn strategies for helping patients manage unpleasant and distressing physical symptoms, such as chronic pain
  • Help patients learn to cope with the uncertainty associated with physical ill-health

This introductory 10 Minute CBT workshop is suitable for a wide range of health professionals and other practitioners.  This may include GPs, nurses and nurse practitioners, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists.

The training is suitable for people with little or no background or training in CBT, as well as those with more experience of CBT who wish to learn how to adapt CBT training to the 10 Minute setting.
