After an early career as an OT in the community working with physically disabled adults, I worked for 27 years in Mental Health, specialising in CBT in 2006 and in using EMDR with trauma in 2012. I have retained an interest in physical health and how this is affected by psychological well-being and have worked as a practitioner, supervisor, trainer and clinical manager in the NHS, Universities and Private Practice. I also co-founded a Charity to assist vulnerable people in gaining employment, education or voluntary work and enjoy working with young people.
I believe wholeheartedly in the effectiveness of CBT in a variety of settings and find Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness particularly helpful.
I have been involved in training staff for the PACE-lift and PACE-Up clinical trials which looked at increasing walking in adults to improve health, as well as training GPs, Therapists and Health Professionals in the UK, Norway and Iceland. I have also published several articles and presented at BABCP conference.
